Tapì and Les Bouchages Delage to create ‘closure hub’
Closure companies Tapì and Les Bouchages Delage have joined forces to create a “closure hub” dedicated to the premium and super premium markets.
In a statement released from Italian firm Tapì, its CEO, Roberto Casini, noted that the new partnership would be committed to maintaining high quality standards, furthering sustainability efforts and using “innovative materials” created by combining both Tapì and Les Bouchages Delage’s knowledge and resources.
He added that the companies were also focused on applying and working with new technologies such as near-field communication (NFC) to open up “yet unexplored possibilities”.
Commenting on the news, CEO of Les Bouchages Delage, Christian Delage, said: “We’re delighted to be starting this new development phase alongside Tapì, seeking to give a new dimension to Les Bouchages Delage, in a continuum with an entrepreneurial history that dates back 78 years.
“Entering the group will help boost the company’s growth, especially in international markets, through our high-end closures, which have made a name for themselves as embodying great charm and outstanding quality.”
The statement noted that the two companies would continue to sell their respective products, “maintaining complete management autonomy”.
In April this year, Tapì partnered with near field communications specialist Thinfilm Electronics to develop a range of smart closures to tackle the growing problem of counterfeiting in wine and spirits. In January 2018, it acquired European-based closures distributor T&G. This followed the purchase of Tapì Argentina in October 2017 to develop the company’s south American markets.
